What is Invisalign?
Invisalign treatment is a virtually invisible way to align teeth. Using advanced 3D computer imaging technology, the Invisalign system displays your complete treatment plan based on your Invisalign Doctor’s evaluation, from the initial position of your teeth to the desired final position. The clear aligners are custom-made so that your teeth move little by little.
What is the Invisalign® process like?
1. First visit:A study is performed, with oral records, photographs and radiographs. With the intraoral scanner we obtain a first project, with 3D images of a new smile. We can have a clear orientation of the treatment plan, time and budget.
2. Second visit:In one week we obtain the definitive and personalized planning that we contrast with the patient, in the consultation room or by e-mail.
Third visit:After approximately 20 days, the aligners are placed, instructions are given and treatment begins. The patient will receive a set of aligners to be worn every day and changed at home approximately every 1-2 weeks.
4. Subsequent follow-up visits and repositioning can be spaced 6 weeks to three months apart.
What is the minimum age for a patient to be treated with the Invisalign system?
Experienced Invisalign Providers can use Invisalign to straighten the teeth of most adults and adolescents. Your Invisalign Provider can give you more information.
Are there any eating restrictions while following this treatment?
No. Unlike traditional braces with wires and brackets, with the Invisalign system you can eat whatever you want because the aligners are removed for eating and drinking. It also allows brushing and flossing after every meal before putting the aligners back on, so that the patient maintains his or her usual oral hygiene routine. It is recommended to wear the aligners for at least 22 hours a day.
