Family travel is wonderful and we all love it, but it is important to be aware and eat safely while traveling. Because from Ziving, your orthodontic clinic in Palma de Mallorca, we know that water can be a vehicle for germs or toxins capable of causing diseases or affecting your oral hygiene, so it is important to take into account some safety measures to prevent it.
There are many intestinal alterations suffered by adults and children in summer. We want to help you prevent them, especially in international travel. To do so, we recommend that you follow these precautions:
Eating safely while traveling (12 precautions).
- Avoid cooked foods that have been kept at room temperature for several hours. This can be dangerous, so it is best to avoid them altogether.
- Eat only food that has been fully cooked and is hot. Don’t let them cool because they could go bad.
- Avoid uncooked foods (removing fruits and vegetables) and avoid fruits with the skin intact.
- Avoid foods with raw or undercooked eggs.
- Avoid food sold in street stalls (depending on the country you are traveling to, it could be bad for you if you are not used to certain spices or foods).
- Avoid ice cream of unknown origin.
- If you travel to a country where fish may contain poisonous biotoxins, ask before eating it.
- Boil unpasteurized milk before consumption.
- Boil the drinking water if you do not know if it is fit for consumption (another option is to use an approved filter or disinfecting agents).
- Avoid ice unless it has been prepared with water suitable for consumption.
- Avoid brushing teeth with water that is not fit for consumption.
- Cold, bottled or packaged beverages are generally safe, as long as they are tightly closed. Avoid hot beverages.
If you have any questions about oral hygiene during the vacations, you know you can ask us. At Ziving we will be happy to help you because that’s why we want to remain your trusted orthodontic center in Palma!
