Warning! Tooth decay does NOT start with a hole
We think of tooth decay as a “black hole” in the tooth, but that’s the final stage. Tooth decay gives warning signs much earlier!
If you detect this, you are in time to stop it with your dentist before it needs to be “capped” (filled).
🚨 Signal 1: The Opaque White Spot
Do you see a white, chalky line stuck to the gum? That’s not tartar! That’s enamel demineralizing. It is the FIRST sign that acid is attacking. It is reversible if you act now.
🚨 Signal 2: The Light Brown Spot
If the white stain is not stopped, it starts to stain and becomes yellow-brown. Here the enamel is already weaker.
🚨 Signal 3: Hole (Cavity)
This is when the brown spot breaks and the cavity (the “hole”) is made. Here it is no longer reversible and a filling is needed.
