For parents, the development of their children’s teeth is very important. As they grow up, the worries begin… Will everything be all right, should my child have braces, is he/she too young to take to the orthodontist, is he/she too young to take to the orthodontist?
In many cases, parents begin to pay attention to these aspects when the baby teeth begin to fall out and the permanent teeth come in,
It is around 12-13 years of age when we detect the anomalies and our children have changed all their teeth except for the wisdom teeth and that is when we go to the orthodontist.
But is this the optimal time to do it?
The recommended age to visit the orthodontist
It has been proven that an early check-up with the orthodontist simplifies, shortens and reduces the cost of treatment in case it is needed.
According to the Spanish Association of Orthodontists (AESOR), the ideal age for the first orthodontic check-up is 6 years of age.
It is more effective to begin visits to the orthodontist before the problem appears, even if tooth growth appears normal to the naked eye.
From Ziving, we recommend you to visit your specialist at an early age, so that we can assess the position and bite (occlusion) of the teeth and correct anomalies more easily before completing the growth stage.
