🍎 Snacks “Friends” vs. 🍬 Snacks “Enemies” of your Teeth.

The snacking war! What they eat between meals can be key to avoiding cavities.

🔴 ENEMIES (Those to be VERY LIMITED):

  • Sticky gummies and candies: They stick to the teeth for hours and hours.
  • Cookies and pastries: Sugar and refined flours are a feast for bacteria.
  • Packaged juices (even the “natural” ones!): They have lots and lots of free sugar and are acidic.
  • Potato chips: The starch turns into sugar and sticks everywhere.

🟢 FRIENDS (Those we should encourage):

  • Cheese: Great! Helps neutralize acidity in the mouth.
  • Natural yogurt (without sugar): Provides calcium.
  • Fresh fruit (not juice!): Raw apple or carrot helps to “sweep away” plaque.
  • Nuts (crushed if they are small): Healthy fat.
  • And always… WATER: The best drink.

The problem is not only the sugar, but the time that sugar spends in the mouth.
